Our mission statement comes from two passages of scripture.
In Matthew 22:36-39 Jesus was asked, “which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
The greatest thing you and I can do is Love God with all our heart, soul and mind. We use the word “WHOLEHEARTED.” We help people wholeheartedly love God with every area of their life. Then Jesus says, Love People. We believe discipleship toward a wholehearted follower of Jesus leads to reaching people by sharing the message of salvation with people.
The second passage our mission statement comes from is Matthew 28:18-20, “18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus tells us to “make disciples” – reach people, “baptize them” – connect people, “teach them to obey” – disciple people, and then they are to go do the same – send people.
We believe this is every believer’s mission therefore we begin with “Together.” It’s everyone’s mission. This is not for a few people within the church, it’s everyone.
At Friendship, we LIVE THE MISSION TOGETHER.
To simplify it:
